The Pikemead's Bulwark is the best Shield you can get early in Enshrouded. This is the only shield in the game that increases your health by +25, it also has the secret effect of providing a faint glow that lights the path, even when you have a one-handed sword in the other hand. This means you can still see in dark dungeons. Its possible to get this shield very early on in Enshrouded, it's perfect for solo players or tank and melee warrior combat builds.
Even in death, the queen unites those who seek protection behind her shield.

How to get the Pikemead's Bulwark
You can find the Pikemead's Bulwark shield location before doing the related quest for the Carpenter called The Queen's Tomb. To get the Pikemead's Bulwark early just follow the steps in this guide:
- Glide directly north east from the Springlands Ancient Spire towards the Hill of Scavengers.
- Run around the spiked wooden walls of the Hill of Scavengers heading north east still. Keep the giant cliff on your left hand side until you reach the Mistbury Catacombs. It requires a lockpick to enter, but you can just cut the wooden door down with your axe.
- Once you enter the Mistbury Catacombs you will see a barred entrance on the other end of the hall that requires 4 buttons to be activated before it will open (You can follow the video guide above to find all 4 button locations in Mistbury Catacombs.
- From the entrance the First Button is located directly to the south, through the locked wooden door head through the Shroud and upstairs in the next room. You can climb upwards to the top of this room and use the grappling hook to cross over the broken bridge where you will find the first button to press opposite you.
- From the entrance once again, the second button can be found by gliding off the rocky bridge to the north (left) down into the shroud. You will see the yellow button directly north, which can be shot with an arrow to activate it.
- Starting from the entrance, to reach the third button go right up the stairs to the north, turn left and go back on yourself, use the grappling hook to cross to the other side. Look upwards and directly behind you, the third button is located in the crumbling stone of the ceiling.
- The final button can be reached by going west down the central corridor from the entrance. Turn to face north, go downstairs into the shroud and you can break the wooden door Infront of you. Head directly north and destroy the bugs that spawn Infront of you. Follow this cave like trail and climb upwards and across the red shroud floor. You can find the final button up the stairs.
- The door is now open and you can walk across the bridge from the entrance into the Queens Tomb to loot the chest for her shield, the Pikemead's Bulwark. This shield respawns, so you can get multiple of it.
