You cannot ride an Asksvin until you make the Asksvin Saddle, and the saddle comes at the far end of the Ashlands, not the start. It needs Flametal and Morgen Sinew from that biome and Linen Thread from the Plains, put together at an upgraded Black Forge.
How to Get It
Flametal Ore is mined in the Ashlands and has to be smelted before you can use it. Morgen Sinew drops from the Morgens that drag themselves out of the rock there, and Linen Thread is spun from Plains Flax at a Spinning Wheel, so two biomes have to be finished before you can make the recipe. The Black Forge must also be upgraded past its base level before the saddle shows up. You will want an Asksvin tamed already, since a saddle does nothing for a wild one.
