About Adding Affinities is a tutorial note in Elden Ring.
About Adding Affinities is a tutorial entry about adding affinities. It is added to the Info section of the inventory on its own. It can be read again at any time.
Use
The entry explains adding affinities. The Whetstone Knife lets ashes of war give armaments new affinities at a Site of Grace. This changes attack affinity and attribute scaling, though some special armaments cannot be changed.
"With a Whetstone Knife, you can use Ashes of War to grant affinities to your armaments at sites of grace. This way, you can alter an armament's attack affinity, boost attribute scaling, and more. An armament's type determines what affinities it can have. Some special armaments, like those with unique skills, cannot be granted new affinities."
