Elden Ring - Tools

Key tools turn on core features or raise core limits for the whole run. Most of them work simply by being held. Several are among the first things bought or found in Limgrave.

Core Features

The Crafting Kit opens the Item Crafting menu anywhere, and Merchant Kalé sells it at the Church of Elleh. The Spirit Calling Bell summons a spirit from an equipped Spirit Ash near a rebirth monument. Renna gives the bell at the Church of Elleh at night, even if her offer is refused, and it comes with the Lone Wolf Ashes. The Twin Maiden Husks also sell the Spirit Calling Bell.

The Tailoring Tools drop from the Demi-Human Chiefs in Coastal Cave and allow armor to be altered at a Site of Grace. The Golden Tailoring Tools lie in a chest at the Church of Vows and extend alteration to demigod armor.

Slot Upgrades

Each Talisman Pouch adds one talisman slot for good. Pouches come from Margit, the Fell Omen, from the golden shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord, and from Finger Reader Enia after two Shardbearers fall. If Margit, the Fell Omen is skipped, Morgott, the Omen King drops that pouch instead. Each Memory Stone adds one memory slot for spells.

Memory Stones lie in tower chests such as Oridys's Rise and drop from the Red Wolf of Radagon and Demi-Human Queen Maggie. The Twin Maiden Husks sell a Memory Stone for 3,000 runes. The Moon of Nokstella talisman adds more memory slots on top.

Containers

The Cracked Pot holds a crafted throwing pot and returns after each throw. Merchant Kalé and several Nomadic Merchants sell Cracked Pots, and more lie in Stormveil Castle, Jarburg and the Auriza Side Tomb. The Ritual Pot holds the stronger ritual pots, such as the Academy Magic Pot and the Albinauric Pot. The Perfume Bottle holds aromatics and spraymists, and most bottles lie on or near the Altus Plateau.

The Hefty Cracked Pot holds hefty pots and lies across the Realm of Shadow. Each extra container raises how many of its items can be carried.

Resets

Each Larval Tear pays for one rebirth with Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon. Larval Tears drop from disguised enemies and silver tears, and Pidia, Carian Servant sells them. A Celestial Dew grants Absolution at the Church of Vows and makes angered NPCs friendly again. Absolution never revives a dead NPC.

Smithing Master Hewg at the Roundtable Hold uses a Lost Ashes of War to copy an Ash of War already held. The copy lets the same skill go on two weapons at once.

Offerings

Each Dragon Heart is spent at a communion altar to learn a Dragon Communion incantation. Hearts drop from dragons such as Flying Dragon Agheel, Glintstone Dragon Adula and Elder Dragon Greyoll. The Heart of Bayle is traded at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion for Bayle's Flame Lightning or Bayle's Tyranny. Gurranq, Beast Clergyman gives the Beast Eye for the first Deathroot.

The Beast Eye quivers whenever Deathroot is close. Messmer's Kindling burns the Sealing Tree at the Church of the Bud and opens the way to Enir-Ilim.

Pitfalls

The Cracked Pot keepsake gives extra pots at the start but removes some found later in the Auriza Side Tomb and southern Caelid. The Cracked Pot in Leyndell, Royal Capital disappears if it is not taken before Crumbling Farum Azula is completed. If Finger Reader Enia dies before handing over her pouch, the Twin Maiden Husks sell it. The Converted Tower needs the Erudition gesture before its Memory Stone can be reached.

The Heart of Bayle cannot stand in for a Dragon Heart at the altars.
