Elden Ring - Quest Items

Quest items are handed to NPCs or used at set places to move a questline forward. Each one decides what an NPC does next. A few of them open the paths to the alternate endings.

Early Quests

Irina of Morne gives Irina's Letter by the road near the Bridge of Sacrifice in the Weeping Peninsula. Handing the letter to Edgar at Castle Morne moves their shared quest forward. The Demi-Human Chiefs in Coastal Cave drop the Sewing Needle. Returning the needle to Boc the Seamster starts his quest, and he later alters garments for free.

The Chrysalids' Memento lies on a pile of corpses near the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle. Giving it to Roderika at the Stormhill Shack sends her to the Roundtable Hold, where she gives a Golden Seed. Deathroot drops from Tibia Mariners and sits in chests behind some catacomb bosses. Gurranq, Beast Clergyman at the Bestial Sanctum eats each root and gives a reward in return.

Ranni's Quest

Miniature Ranni lies in an open stone coffin in Ainsel River Main. Talking to the doll at a Site of Grace makes Ranni the Witch ask for the Baleful Shadow to be killed. The Fingerslayer Blade waits in a chest beneath the giant skeleton statue in Night's Sacred Ground, Nokron, Eternal City. That chest opens only for those who have entered Ranni the Witch's service.

Giving her the blade earns the Carian Inverted Statue. The Cursemark of Death lies on Ranni the Witch's old body at the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia. The Dark Moon Ring comes from the locked chest in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library.

Ending Items

Placing the Dark Moon Ring on Ranni the Witch beneath the Cathedral of Manus Celes leads to the Age of the Stars ending. Giving the Cursemark of Death to Fia, the Deathbed Companion opens the fight with Lichdragon Fortissax. After that fight, her body holds the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince. Five Seedbed Curses used on the Dung Eater's body in his cell give the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse.

The Fingerprint Grape from Festering Fingerprint Vyke sends Lightseeker Hyetta to the Frenzied Flame Proscription beneath Leyndell, Royal Capital. Miquella's Needle lifts the Flame of Frenzy in the arena of Dragonlord Placidusax and undoes the Lord of Frenzied Flame ending. Standing in that arena is enough to use the needle.

Millicent and Rya

Commander O'Neil in the Swamp of Aeonia drops the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Sage Gowry repairs the needle so it can be given to Millicent at the Church of the Plague. Valkyrie's Prosthesis lies in a chest guarded by a Cleanrot Knight in The Shaded Castle. Giving it to Millicent lets her be summoned against the Godskin Apostle at Dominula, Windmill Village.

Blackguard Big Boggart sells Rya's Necklace at the Boilprawn Shack. Returning the necklace to Rya earns the Volcano Manor Invitation. Serpent's Amnion and the Tonic of Forgetfulness decide how Rya's quest ends inside Volcano Manor.

Realm of Shadow

Drake Warrior Igon gives Igon's Furled Finger at the Foot of the Jagged Peak. Holding the finger makes his summon sign appear in the arena of Bayle the Dread. The Secret Rite Scroll lies on a table near the Storehouse, Fourth Floor Site of Grace in the Specimen Storehouse. Sir Ansbach takes the scroll and later hands over the Letter for Freyja.

The letter moves Redmane Freyja's quest on inside Shadow Keep. Moore gives Black Syrup, and Thiollier uses it to brew Thiollier's Concoction.

Pitfalls

Offering the Amber Draught to Ranni the Witch is a betrayal. After that, Preceptor Seluvis and Pidia, Carian Servant die for good. Handing over the Fingerslayer Blade also ends the quests of Preceptor Seluvis and Pidia, Carian Servant, so business with them should be finished first. The Stormhawk King can no longer be given to Nepheli Loux once Maliketh, the Black Blade is defeated.

Buying Rya's Necklace keeps Blackguard Big Boggart alive for his own quest and for the Dung Eater's. Serpent's Amnion stays in the inventory until at least one assassination request at Volcano Manor is finished. A Celestial Dew at the Church of Vows makes angered NPCs friendly again.
