Somber Smithing Stone [5] is an upgrade material in Elden Ring.
Somber Smithing Stone [5] takes a special armament from +4 to +5. It is spread across the Altus Plateau, Volcano Manor, the Siofra River and Leyndell. It is the first somber grade that War Counselor Iji does not sell. Steady supply only opens with a bell bearing found in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
Use
Smithing Master Hewg in Roundtable Hold or War Counselor Iji in Liurnia of the Lakes performs the upgrade. Each level of a special armament takes one somber stone of the matching grade. The upgrade also costs runes.
"Gold smithing stone drained of color. Strengthens special armaments to +5. Special armaments with unique characteristics cannot be strengthened with colored smithing stones. Number of steps and amount strengthened differ from standard equipment."
