Somber Smithing Stone [1] is an upgrade material in Elden Ring.

Somber Smithing Stone [1] is the first grade of somber smithing stone. It strengthens special armaments, the unique weapons that regular stones cannot improve, from +0 to +1. It appears early in Limgrave and the Weeping Peninsula. War Counselor Iji sells it without limit, so it is never scarce.

Use

---

Smithing Master Hewg in Roundtable Hold or War Counselor Iji in Liurnia of the Lakes performs the upgrade. Each level of a special armament takes one somber stone of the matching grade. The upgrade also costs runes.

"Shard of smithing stone drained of color. Strengthens special armaments to +1. Special armaments with unique characteristics cannot be strengthened with colored smithing stones. Number of steps and amount strengthened differ from standard equipment."
