Magma Wyrm is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Magma Wyrm is a flightless, lava-spewing wyrm that was once a human hero. One waits at the end of Gael Tunnel in Caelid, guarding the katana Moonveil. Others lurk in the lava lake by Fort Laiedd, beneath Volcano Manor and in the Dragon's Pit. Its scaly greatsword and pools of magma make every fight a test of footing.
Lore
The wyrm is a four-legged dragon with torn, useless wings and a broad head. It wields a curved greatsword shaped like a dragon's jaw and covered in hard scales, and it drools and spits molten lava.
Those who perform Dragon Communion feel their humanity slowly slip away. Once they fully succumb, they are left as wyrms that crawl the earth.
These land-bound dragons are said to have been human heroes, cursed to crawl on their bellies as shadows of their former selves.
Where to find Magma Wyrm Location?
- Gael Tunnel, Caelid, at the end of the tunnel
- Fort Laiedd, Mt. Gelmir, in the lava lake south of the fort and southwest of the Seethewater Terminus Site of Grace
- Volcano Manor, at the bottom of the lava lake below the Temple of Eiglay, reached by a cage lift
- Dragon's Pit, Gravesite Plain, in a large cavern up the stairs near the lower end of the dungeon

Attacks
- Sword Swings: low sweeps of the scalesword; roll into the swing or jump over it.
- Hook: a downward swing that drags the sword back toward itself; roll through the blade or keep to its right flank.
- Scalesword Slam: it lifts the sword in both hands and slams it down over a wide area; roll forward after the left hand grips the sword, then hit its head.
- Gliding Slam: it takes the sword in its mouth, glides forward and slams down; run underneath it if close, or back away if far.
- Lava Charge: lava pools in its mouth and it charges, drooling a burning trail; roll aside and wait for the lava to fade.
- Lava Belch: it raises its head and lobs a glob of lava; if its head points straight up, attack freely for several seconds.
- Rise Up: it rears onto its hind legs and drools lava onto its sword, coating the blade in fire; attack its tail.
Tactics
- Wear fire protection, since standing in its lava deals heavy damage over time.
- Stay in front at a safe distance to dodge sword swings, then move in to hit its head during the Lava Belch.
- Or attack its tail, which few of its attacks can reach quickly.
- Keep circling; it turns slowly and wastes time facing its foe.
- Summon a sturdy Spirit Ash to draw its attacks.
- Lure the Fort Laiedd wyrm out of the lava for an easier fight.

Fire protection with physical damage
Fire protection blunts its lava, and physical spells such as Rock Sling get through its low physical defense.
