The Moonveil is a Katana in Elden Ring. The Intelligence katana.
When to Use It
Mid game. It is found around Gael Tunnel, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.
Why Players Pick It
- 73 physical / 87 magic at +0 becomes 178 / 213 at max standard with B Dex and B Int, 391 combined.
- Transient Moonlight sheathes the blade and fires a light wave off both the normal and strong follow-up, so the skill is both your ranged and your close option.
Upgrades
- Upgrades with Somber Smithing Stones to +10, one stone per level.
- Keeps its own skill permanently.
Skill
Transient Moonlight costs 15 / 20 FP.
- Sheathe blade, holding it at the hip in a composed stance. Follow up with either a normal or a strong attack to draw the blade at great speed for an instant slash attack. Both attacks fire off a wave of light.
- Unique to this weapon. It cannot be moved onto another weapon, and no Ash of War can replace it.
Build
It scales Str E, Dex D, Int C, so Int is where the levels go.
- Requires Str 12, Dex 18, Int 23.
- Takes no Ash of War and no affinity, so the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.
- Causes blood loss buildup (50), without any infusion needed.
Notes
- Katana forged of glintstone. Masterpiece of a Sellian swordsmith.
- Light enwreathes the blade when sheathed, explaining its Moonveil moniker.
