The Academy Glintstone Staff is the staff of the Academy of Raya Lucaria, set with a turquoise glintstone, which only a recognized sorcerer may wield. It is looted from Thops, either at the end of his questline outside the Schoolhouse Classroom or by killing him, and Glintstone Sorcerers inside the academy can drop it. As a catalyst its value lies in its B Intelligence sorcery scaling rather than its staff swings. From the low forties up to the high sixties in Intelligence it is the strongest staff that carries no extra FP cost. It suits a mid-game sorcerer, or a melee build that carries it for buffs and support spells.

The Academy Glintstone Staff is the strongest pure Intelligence staff across the 42 to 67 Intelligence range, which covers most of a normal playthrough, and its modest requirement puts it within reach early. It reaches 345 sorcery scaling at 80 Intelligence when fully upgraded and weighs only 3.0, so a sorcerer can carry it from the middle of the game to the end without giving up much equip load.

It is looted from Thops at the end of his questline in the Academy of Raya Lucaria, or dropped if he is killed at the Church of Irith; Glintstone Sorcerers also drop it rarely.

1. Find Thops at the Church of Irith in Liurnia of the Lakes.
2. Give him the Academy Glintstone Key.
3. Enter the Academy of Raya Lucaria and rest at the Schoolhouse Classroom Site of Grace.
4. Leave the room and turn right to find Thops dead in a chair.
5. Loot the staff from his body.
