The Smithscript Spear is a Spear in Elden Ring. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.

The Smithscript Spear is engraved with smithscript, a throwing weapon created through the smithing arts. It lies on a corpse just past the bridge in the first room of the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past, southwest of the Moorth Ruins. Strong, dashing strong and mounted strong attacks hurl it as a projectile for no FP, and it returns to the hand at once; it reaches farther than most smithscript weapons, though its damage falls off with distance. It scales with Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith, and it suits a player who wants a ranged option without spending FP.

How to Get Smithscript Spear Guide

On a corpse not far past the entrance. It is found to the right after crossing the bridge in the first room, near the ladder.

Skill

Impaling Thrust costs 9 FP. The wielder gathers power, then lunges forward into a strong piercing thrust that punches through an enemy's guard. Most of the damage gets past a raised shield, which makes it a reliable answer to turtling enemies and players. The thrust can be parried. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

"Skill that lets piercing armaments overcome enemy shields. Build power, then lunge forward for a strong thrust that pierces an enemy's guard."

Suggested Build

Thrown with strong attacks to hit enemies at range for free, then used for ordinary thrusts up close, including from horseback.

Stats Strength 9, Dexterity 12, Intelligence 11 and Faith 11 to wield it, then Strength and Dexterity raised together as its best scaling stats, Vigor 40 then 60, Endurance 20 to 30
Affinity It keeps its own spread of Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith scaling, since Ashes of War that would grant an affinity cannot be applied to it.
Ash of War Impaling Thrust, its default, for a lunging thrust that pierces guards; it also takes other Ashes of War except those that buff the weapon.
