The Bone Bolt is a piece of ammunition in Valheim, dealing 32 pierce. At 32 total damage it is 19th of the 26 ammunition, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.

How to Craft

Crafted at Black forge, station level 1.
Costs 8x Bone fragments, 2x Feathers at quality 1.
Materials can be found in the Meadows biome.

When to Use It

Opening hours. Everything it takes comes out of the Meadows, so this is gear for a character who has just stood up.

Properties

The only bolt that needs no wood. It is also the weakest at 32 pierce, but bone comes out of the Burial Chambers in quantity and a crossbow only fires 10 times a minute.

Its damage is added to the crossbow's before every other multiplier. Skill, quality and the triple-damage sneak bonus all apply on top, which is why the bolt matters as much as the crossbow.

Notes

Ammunition damage is added to the weapon's base damage before any other calculation, which is why the arrow and not the bow decides a shot's damage type.
Arrows are fired by bows and bolts by crossbows; the 2 are not interchangeable.
With more than one kind in the inventory, right-clicking the stack selects which is used.
