Bone Bolt uses no wood at all, only the bones of the dead and a pair of feathers, which makes it the cheapest crossbow ammo a Black Forge makes. It deals 32 pierce damage. Its Bone Fragments come from the Black Forest, and it is crafted at a Black Forge. At 32 total damage it ranks 19th for damage among ammo, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it.
How to Craft
Crafted at a level 1 Black Forge from:
- 8x Bone Fragments: dropped by Skeletons and found in Rancid Remains.
- 2x Feathers: dropped by Crows and Gulls, and found in chests in the Meadows.

When to Use It
Its Bone Fragments drop from Skeletons in the Black Forest, but the bolt itself is crafted at a Black Forge, so you can make it once that forge is built.
Properties
It is the only bolt that needs no Wood. It is also the weakest at 32 pierce, but the Burial Chambers drop bone in quantity, and a crossbow only fires 10 times a minute.
Its damage is added to the crossbow's before every other multiplier. Skill, quality and the triple-damage sneak bonus all apply on top, which is why the bolt matters as much as the crossbow.
Notes
- Ammo damage is added to the weapon's base damage before any other calculation, which is why the arrow, not the bow, decides a shot's damage type.
- Bows fire arrows and crossbows fire bolts, and the 2 are not interchangeable.
- If you carry more than one kind, right-click the stack to choose which one is used.
