The Silver Knife is the blade you bring to anything already dead, since the undead cannot stomach silver, and silver only comes from the Mountain. It deals 25 slash, 25 pierce and 12 spirit. Its 62 total damage ranks 3rd among knives, so it is a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. Pierce and spirit damage hurt Bats, Ghosts and Trolls more than most things, and that is what to carry it for.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 3 Forge from:
- 2x Wood: chopped from any tree.
- 10x Silver: smelted from Silver Ore in a Smelter.
- 3x Leather Scraps: dropped by Boars and Bats, and dug out of muddy scrap piles.
- 2x Iron: smelted from Scrap Iron in a Smelter.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wood | All biomes | - | spawn Wood

| Silver | Mountain | Smelter | spawn Silver

| Leather Scraps | Meadows | - | spawn LeatherScraps

| Iron | Swamp | Smelter | spawn Iron

When to Use It
This is a mid game knife. Silver lies under the Mountain snow and you need a Wishbone to find it, so this comes after Bonemass.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. The stats quoted elsewhere are all quality 1, so this table shows the ladder your own copy sits on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Pierce | Slash | Spirit | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forge (Level 3) | 25 | 25 | 12 | 200 |
|
| 2 | Forge (Level 4) | 26 | 26 | 12 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Forge (Level 5) | 27 | 27 | 12 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Forge (Level 6) | 28 | 28 | 12 | 350 |

Properties
It is the only knife with an element: 12 spirit on top of 25 slash and 25 pierce, and spirit is the type nothing in the game resists. It only lands on undead and demons, which is exactly what a Frost Cave and a Burial Chamber are full of.
A backstab multiplies all of that by 6. The sneak multiplier applies to the whole hit, so the spirit is multiplied too. Against a Draugr that has not turned round, this is the hardest opening blow any knife has until the Ashlands.
Notes
- The 6x applies to an enemy that has not noticed you, not to one attacking someone else, so it is a Sneaking mechanic rather than a positional one.
- The primary combo hits for 1x, 1x and then 2x, so the damage is in the third hit, and the whole combo takes 1.74 seconds.
- Its knockback of 10 on the primary is the lowest in the game, which keeps a target inside the combo instead of pushing it out of reach.
- Upgrading does not raise spirit: it is 12 at quality 1 and still 12 at quality 4. The upgrades raise slash from 25 to 28 and pierce from 25 to 28.
