Hagubman is a powerful and cunning Nekker Warrior, one of the Ogroids. It leads a colony of Nekkers near the village of Larvik, on the isle of Hindarsfjall in Skellige. It is the target of Contract: Strange Beast.
Lore
The average nekker is cowardly and weak. It only attacks in groups, and only when the group far outnumbers its foe. Yet now and then one nekker towers over the rest in strength, stamina and cunning. Such nekkers are called warriors, but the name is misleading. Warriors fight with honor, face to face. These overgrown nekkers act more like assassins. They strike by surprise, from hiding and from behind. They also strike when an opponent leaves an opening while attacking.
Hagubman was one such monster. Not even the strongest islanders could slay it. Its cunning shocked the warriors of Hindarsfjall. Egil, one of them, put it this way: "Ye or anyone ever heard of a beast settin' a wagon in the road, then waitin' in ambush? They're too ploughin' dumb for that, dammit!"
Behaviour
Nekkers live in the dark woods of damp, misty valleys. Their colonies hold anywhere from one to several dozen members. They dig deep burrows for lairs and link them with a network of narrow tunnels. Through these passages they move at great speed around their colony.
Nekkers always attack in groups and by surprise. They try to surround their prey quickly and cut off every escape. Their attacks are mostly disorganized, because nekkers lack courage. A single nekker often hesitates before it dares to strike.
Weaknesses
Coat the blade with Ogroid Oil. Like other nekkers, warriors are open to every Sign. A Northern Wind bomb also works well against them. Their blows are easy to parry or counter.
Hagubman is faster and stronger than an ordinary nekker. It can also call other nekkers to its side, so the fight always involves a crowd. Kill the braver nekkers first while the others hold back, then focus on the leader.
