The Ice Troll is an Ogroid and a cousin of the Rock Troll. Ice trolls are found in Skellige.
Lore
A folk song from northern Kaedwen warns that ice trolls wake from sleep when the snow falls. Climbing snowy peaks is never safe. A climber can slip into a ravine or be buried by an avalanche. A climber can also stumble across ice trolls. Rock trolls live lower down. Ice trolls live in the permafrost, and they see every man they meet as a possible meal.
Luckily, ice trolls live on mountain ridges so remote that they rarely meet humans. Some believe this is why they never learned the basics of Common Speech. Others claim the harsh mountains took that skill away from them. A land of endless cold leaves no room for mercy or understanding.
Behaviour
Ice trolls are crueler than their rocky cousins. They fight in a similar way, throwing stones and swinging their huge fists. Yet they are tougher and stronger than rock trolls, which makes them more dangerous. Their backs are covered in thick armor, just like a rock troll's.
Weaknesses
Coat the blade with Ogroid Oil and cast Quen before the fight starts.
The armor on its back turns blades aside, so never strike an ice troll from behind. It has to be fought face to face. Land a few fast attacks until it raises an arm to guard, then back off before going in again. Keeping distance does not make the fight safe, since the troll throws stones at range.
