Main Characters

The main characters carry the story of the game, from the first job in the prologue to the endings. Most of them are tied to the Relic, the chip that holds the mind of Johnny Silverhand, and to the people who made it, stole it or want it.

The Heist

Jackie Welles is V's partner and closest friend when the story begins. Together with the netrunner T-Bug, they take a job from the fixer Dexter DeShawn to steal the Relic from Konpeki Plaza. Evelyn Parker is the client who set the job up. The heist goes wrong: Yorinobu Arasaka murders his father Saburo, Jackie dies of his wounds, and V is shot and left for dead with the chip in V's head.

Allies

After the heist, a small circle of people helps V stay alive. Viktor Vektor, the ripperdoc of Little China, patches V up and explains what the Relic is doing. Misty Olszewski runs the esoteric shop next to his clinic and offers a calmer kind of help. Goro Takemura, Saburo's loyal bodyguard, saves V from a landfill and wants revenge on Yorinobu.

Judy Álvarez, a braindance technician of the Mox, helps search for Evelyn. Panam Palmer, a nomad of the Aldecaldos, opens the way into the Badlands. Rogue, the queen of the Afterlife, once ran with Johnny Silverhand and can help with a final raid.

Johnny Silverhand

Johnny Silverhand is the rockerboy whose mind lives on the Relic. He led the attack that destroyed the old Arasaka Towers, and he hates the corporation as much as ever. He shares V's body and V's thoughts for the rest of the story. Whether V and Johnny end as enemies or friends depends on the choices along the way.

Arasaka

Yorinobu Arasaka stole the Relic and killed his father to take control of the company. His sister Hanako stands between loyalty to her family and to the old guard of the corporation. Adam Smasher, the full body conversion who once killed Johnny, still guards the family. Alt Cunningham, the netrunner whose mind lives beyond the Blackwall, is a key to some endings.

Phantom Liberty

The expansion adds its own main cast in Dogtown: Songbird, Solomon Reed, Alex, President Rosalind Myers and Kurt Hansen. Songbird is a netrunner of the government's intelligence service, Reed a veteran agent of the same service, and Hansen the ruler of Dogtown.
