The Bloody Helice is a Heavy Thrusting Sword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Second Church of Marika, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Why Players Pick It

55 innate blood loss and B Arcane at max standard, with Dynast's Finesse, a back-stepping dodge that chains into a heavy forward thrust and then a two-hit follow-up. Also notes the dodge costs no FP if you have not met the stat requirement, which pure casters can abuse for the evade. Somber, so it cannot be infused or buffed. Chest behind the Sanguine Noble in Writheblood Ruins.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Dynast's Finesse costs 5 / 7 FP. Nimbly avoid an attack, securing some distance from foes. Follow up with a strong attack to perform a sudden lunge, and press strong attack again to perform a sweeping slice. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at D and Arc at D, so Dex and Arc are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 16, Dex 19 and Arc 17 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes blood loss buildup (55) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Ominous piercing sword with a winding blade. Carried by the noble servants of the Lord of Blood. Designed to bore into flesh, causing severe blood loss at the wound. The extracted blood trickles gracefully down the length of the blade.

How to Get Bloody Helice Guide

  • Writheblood Ruins, north of the Second Church of Marika in the Altus Plateau.
  • It will be in a chest behind the Sanguine Noble miniboss.
