The Family Heads are a Flail in Elden Ring. They are picked up mid-game, in the Altus Plateau.

Family Heads is the signature weapon of Necromancer Garris, the heretical sage: three bludgeoning copper heads on chains, made to resemble his wife and two children. It drops from Necromancer Garris, hidden behind an illusory wall in Sage's Cave on the Altus Plateau. It swings as a slow flail that cannot be parried, mixing magic damage into its physical Strike hits, and its weapon damage scales mostly with Dexterity. Its unique skill, Familial Rancor, gently rattles the heads to summon vengeful spirits that chase down foes, scales strongly with Intelligence and costs no stamina. It suits a Dexterity and Intelligence character who wants homing spirits from a melee weapon.

Stats

The Family Heads puts C Dexterity scaling on 90 physical plus 58 magic, reaching A Dexterity at max upgrade, on the cheapest requirements of any high-scaling flail. The drawbacks are a 25 FP cost for Familial Rancor and a low 20 guard boost, but few flails scale as well for so little investment.

How to Get Family Heads Guide

Received upon defeating Necromancer Garris, who is found behind an illusory wall inside the Sage's Cave, located in Altus Plateau.

Skill

Familial Rancor costs 25 FP. The wielder rattles the copper heads to call up vengeful spirits in the form of floating skulls that chase down foes and deal magic damage. The skill costs no stamina, and its damage effectively scales with Intelligence. Magic boosts such as Terra Magica and the Magic-Shrouding Cracked Tear raise its damage. No other weapon carries this skill, and it cannot be replaced.

"Gently rattle the copper heads to summon vengeful spirits that chase down foes. The anguish of a spouse and children invites accursed wrath."

Suggested Build

Fire Familial Rancor to send homing spirits after enemies from a distance, then follow up with flail swings that cannot be parried.

Stats Dexterity 60, Intelligence 33 to 60, Vigor 50, Mind 20 to 30, Endurance 20 (Strength 8)
Affinity Cannot be infused; it keeps its own scaling.
Talismans Shard of Alexander, Magic Scorpion Charm, Godfrey Icon

Notes

"Three bludgeoning copper heads attached to a handle by chains. Signature weapon of Necromancer Garris, the heretical sage. The heads were made to resemble those of his wife and two children."
