The Serpent Flail is a Flail in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is found around Land of Shadow in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Why Players Pick It

Shadow of the Erdtree weapon and the class's Faith option: 92 fire at +0 with D Fai, reaching B Faith and 188 physical + 225 fire on 's max standard table. Its skill, Flare O Serpent, temporarily empowers its fire. 10 Str / 24 Dex / 21 Fai. Found in a chest in the Fog Rift Fort courtyard.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Flare, O Serpent costs 8 FP. Ignites a flame inside the snakes, temporarily empowering flame attacks. Once ignited, strong attacks and other moves that strike the ground will cause an explosion. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at D and Fai at D, so Dex and Fai are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 10, Dex 24 and Fai 21 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

A flail with coiled snakes for bludgeoning heads. Fire roars within the snakes' bodies, inflicting horrible burns. Some of Messmer's army used these flails to burn hornsent: to brand them with agony and fear.
