The Great Knife is a Dagger in Elden Ring. S Dexterity on Keen at max and A Dexterity on Blood, the highest scaling letter available in any of these five classes.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Mt. Gelmir, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Starting equipment for the Bandit class.
2% drop chance from Small Demi-Humans.
The earliest farming spot is just inside Lakeside Crystal Cave, where once can be found hiding inside of a bush next to another, regular Demi-Human.
The most efficient farming spot is just north of the Craftsman's Shack Site of Grace on Mt. Gelmir, where four of them are hiding amongst a flock of Sheep.
