The Messmer Soldier's Spear is a Great Spear in Elden Ring. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.

The Messmer Soldier's Spear is the weapon of the soldiers who serve Messmer the Impaler, a greatspear with a steel blade worn from use, made for overwhelming onslaughts. It is a rare drop from Messmer Soldiers in the Realm of Shadow, such as the spear-wielding soldiers at the camp west of the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace. Its charged heavy attack unleashes a double poke shared with the Treespear, granting hyper armor and suiting status effects and talismans that reward successive hits, and it can attack while a shield is raised. It comes with Impaling Thrust, scales with Strength and Dexterity at D, and reaches A Strength scaling when Heavy infused at full upgrade. It suits a Strength build that wants heavy stance damage at long reach.

Skill

Impaling Thrust costs 9 FP. The wielder gathers power, then lunges forward into a strong piercing thrust that punches through an enemy's guard. Most of the damage gets past a raised shield, which makes it a reliable answer to turtling enemies and players. The thrust can be parried. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.
