The Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear is a Great Spear in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is found around Ancient Ruins of Rauh in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Bloodfiends' Bloodboon costs 20 FP. Raise the sacred spear and pierce the body of the mother of truth, creating an explosion of bloodflame in the area surrounding the target. Additional input allows for up to three follow-up attacks. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at E, Dex at E and Arc at C, so Arc is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 22, Dex 12 and Arc 13 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round. It also causes blood loss buildup (94) on its own, with no infusion needed.

Notes

Greatspear of the bloodfiend hexers. One of the most significant implements used in their blood rituals. Sacred spears of blood are the instruments of communion with an outer god. The mother of truth desires a wound.
