The Death Knight's Longhaft Axe is a Greataxe in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Shadow of the Erdtree. It is found around Land of Shadow in the expansion, which opens only once Starscourge Radahn and Mohg, Lord of Blood are beaten.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Blinkbolt: Long-hafted Axe costs 8 FP. From a low stance, the body is transformed into a bolt of lightning and charges straight ahead at fulgurous speed. Strong attack performs a lightning-charged leaping slash. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D, Dex at E and Fai at D, so Str and Fai are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 23, Dex 10 and Fai 18 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

A long-hafted golden axe wielded by the Death Knight. Bears a representation of a decayed golden ring. Crackles with lightning, the power of the capital's ancient dragon cult. The knight, once the personal guard of Godwyn, was also the protector of the Prince of Death's cadaver surrogate.
