The Butchering Knife is a Greataxe in Elden Ring. It shows up mid-run, on Mt. Gelmir.

The Butchering Knife is a huge carving knife made to cleanly butcher the human body, the signature weapon of the Ogress Anastasia, known to have eaten countless Tarnished while disguised as a Finger Maiden. It is the reward for defeating Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater, who invades near the Corpse-Stench Shack on Mt. Gelmir, and it arrives with the Sacred affinity already applied. Every hit restores 1% of maximum HP regardless of attack speed, so multi-hit skills and backstabs heal more than usual. It needs only 16 Strength, low for a greataxe, scales mainly with Dexterity at C and accepts Ashes of War. It suits a Dexterity build that out-heals the damage it takes.

Stats

The Butchering Knife restores 1% of the wielder's maximum HP on every hit that connects, the only sustain among greataxes, and the heal grows with Vigor rather than with damage. It is also the one Dexterity-leaning greataxe, with C Dexterity and E Strength on 134 physical at 8.5 weight, and it drops already carrying the Sacred affinity.

How to Get Butchering Knife Guide

Received upon defeating Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater near the Corpse-Stench Shack on Mt. Gelmir, with the Sacred affinity added to the weapon.

Skill

Barbaric Roar costs 16 FP. The wielder lets out a bestial roar that grants a 40 second weapon buff, raising physical attack power. While it lasts, heavy and charged heavy attacks turn into a savage three-hit combo that chains into a further follow-up shaped by the weapon class. The Roar Medallion adds to the damage of these combos, and as a weapon buff it replaces greases and armament-buffing spells rather than stacking with them. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.
