Deathbird is a field boss in Elden Ring.
The Deathbird is a giant, rotting bird that walks on two legs and swings a long fire poker. It descends from the sky only at night, onto ruins in Stormhill, the Weeping Peninsula, Liurnia and the Capital Outskirts. Its screech spreads deathblight, and its grab can end a fight at once. Holy damage and tools made for the undead tear it apart.
Lore
The Deathbird is a gigantic, decaying bird whose body is built from smaller corpses. It stands upright on two thin legs and wields a long iron poker.
These birds were graveyard fire keepers. It is said they raked the ashen remains of the dead out of their kilns.
All deathbirds are said to be the offspring of the Twinbird, envoy of an outer god of death. In the age before the Erdtree, death was burned in ghostflame, and the deathbirds kept that fire.

Attacks
- Poker Swings: wide swings in many directions; roll through each swing.
- Hop and Swing: a long gliding hop to one side, then a swing; wait for the landing, then roll.
- Jab and Stab: it pulls the poker back and stabs, sometimes yanking it back with a shockwave; roll forward to get behind it.
- Peck: a downward peck at anything beneath it; roll behind it.
- Leaping Slam: it jumps and smashes the poker down with a shockwave; roll behind it as the poker levels.
- Two-Handed Slam: it grips the poker head and slams down; roll as its foot lifts and punish the recovery.
- Screaming Grab: it hops back, screams and lunges to seize its prey with its beak; roll backward when it screams.
- Death Screech: a short scream that quickly builds deathblight; roll away and keep distance.
Tactics
- Wait for night at the listed ruins to make it appear.
- Fight on foot or weave in and out on Torrent, keeping just outside the reach of the poker.
- Stay near its hind legs and attack from the side or behind.
- Hit a few times after each attack, then reset.
- Back away from every screech to avoid deathblight and the grab that follows.
- Use Holy Water Pots or holy weapons, which deal huge damage to it.
