The Smithscript Greathammer is a Great Hammer in Elden Ring. It is one of the expansion's additions, found in the Land of Shadow.

The Smithscript Greathammer is a greathammer engraved with smithscript, a throwing weapon created through the smithing arts. It lies on a corpse in Taylew's Ruined Forge in the Realm of Shadow, guarded by a fiery enemy. Its strong attack and dashing strong attack spin and fling the hammer, which returns at once, giving a ranged attack at no FP cost with more range than most smithscript weapons, though damage falls off with distance. It scales with Strength at D and with Dexterity, Intelligence and Faith at E, and it cannot take magic or consumable buffs. It suits a Strength character who wants a heavy weapon with a free ranged option.

How to Get Smithscript Greathammer Guide

  • The weapon can be found on a corpse at Taylew's Ruined Forge.
  • After first jumping onto the pipe, simply cross over to the opposite side to find the hammer.

Skill

Endure costs 9 FP. The wielder braces in an anchored stance that for three seconds raises damage negation by 45 percent and greatly boosts poise, so most attacks fail to stagger. Some light one-handed attacks even bounce off, though headshots and launching attacks can still interrupt the wielder. Heavy weapons take noticeably longer to enter the stance. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

"Assume an anchored stance to brace for incoming attacks, briefly boosting poise. Damage taken while using this skill is reduced."

Suggested Build

Two-handed to raise the thrown hammer's damage, it mixes melee swings with free thrown strong attacks from a distance.

Stats Strength to 60, then 80, Vigor 50 to 60, Endurance 40, Mind 10, with Dexterity 10 and Intelligence and Faith 11 to meet its requirements
Affinity It cannot take ashes of war that change affinity, so it stays in its native form, which favors Strength.
Ash of War Its default Endure, which raises poise and reduces damage taken while trading hits.
