Carry Mistwalker into the Mistlands and the fog pulls back a few metres around you, so you hold a lamp and a frost-edged sword in the same hand. It deals 75 slash and 40 frost. With 115 total damage it ranks 11th among swords, a step on the ladder rather than the top of it. In the Mistlands the frost matters more than it sounds. Seeker, Seeker Brood and Seeker Soldier all resist blunt, pierce and slash but take full frost damage, so the frost half is the damage that actually lands. Frost also hurts Blob, Bonemass and Oozer more than most mobs.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 1 black forge from:
- 3x Finewood: chopped from birch and oak trees with a bronze axe or better.
- 15x Iron: smelted from scrap iron in a smelter.
- 10x Refined Eitr: refined from sap and soft tissue at an eitr refinery.
- 3x Wisp: gathered at a wisp fountain in the Mistlands.

When to Use It
Mid game. It needs Mistlands materials and a Black Forge, so you reach it after Yagluth and the sea crossing that follows him. The Ashlands and the Deep North still lie past this biome.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it 3 times after crafting, and each level needs the station built one step higher than the last. Every other figure on this page is for quality 1, so this is the ladder your own copy sits somewhere on:
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Frost | Spirit | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black forge (Level 1) | 75 | 40 | - | 200 |
|
| 2 | Black forge (Level 2) | 75 | 46 | 5 | 250 |
|
| 3 | Black forge (Level 3) | 75 | 52 | 10 | 300 |
|
| 4 | Black forge (Level 4) | 75 | 58 | 15 | 350 |

Properties
The slow matters more than the 40 frost. Every hit that lands applies Frost and resets it to full strength. It lasts 50 seconds, scaled by the share of the target's health the frost took off. That works out to about 10 seconds of crippled movement on a 200 HP Seeker and about one on a 1,500 HP Seeker Soldier. Use it to break up a pack, not to hold a Gjall still.
The upgrade ladder is what makes the weapon. Slash is 75 at quality 1 and still 75 at quality 4, so every level adds frost, spirit and durability instead. In a biome where almost everything resists slash, an unupgraded Mistwalker barely works as a Mistlands sword.
The spirit damage is for later. Many Mistlands creatures are immune to spirit, so the 15 it reaches at quality 4 does nothing in the biome where you craft it. It starts to pay off in the Ashlands, where the Charred and the Fallen Valkyrie are weak to it.
Notes
- The blade clears the Mist in a 5 m radius, against 10 m for a Wisplight. The effect is real, but it does not replace the Wisplight: carry that anyway, and think of the sword's radius as what you still have if the Wisplight is on the wrong character.
- It also glows faintly all the time. That is enough to find your way around a dark room, and enough to cost you roughly 20% extra visibility while sneaking.
- Frost refreshes instead of stacking. A second hit resets the slow to full strength rather than adding to it, so a fast combo keeps a target slowed for as long as you keep swinging.
