Thunderblood Greataxe is a Nord Greataxe reforged with a Thunderblood Essence. It deals 198 slash and 45 lightning, 243 damage in all, against the Nord Greataxe's 188. Every hit has a 25% chance to set off chain lightning, and it hits 0.2% harder for every point of health you are missing.

How to Craft

You craft it at a level 4 Black Forge from:

Name Image Biome Crafting Station Spawn ID
Nord Greataxe Nord Greataxe Deep North Frost Foundry spawn BattleaxeGold
Bloodgold Bloodgold Deep North Blast Furnace spawn Gold
Thunderblood Essence Thunderblood Essence Deep North - spawn OrbThunderBlood

When to Use It

This is an end game weapon. You can only progress through the Deep North once Fader is dead.

Upgrades

You can upgrade it twice at the Black Forge, and each step needs the station one level higher than the last. The first upgrade costs the per-level amount and the second costs twice that. Quality 4 would cost four times the per-level amount, but it needs a level 7 Black Forge and the forge currently tops out at level 6, so that row is not yet available.

Quality Crafting Station Slash Chop Lightning Durability Resources
1 Black Forge (Level 4) 198 40 45 400
2 Black Forge (Level 5) 208 42.5 50 450
3 Black Forge (Level 6) 218 45 55 500
4 Black Forge (Level 7, not yet available) 228 47.5 60 550

Properties

The primary attack is two wide swings and an overhead, with the last hit dealing double damage. Every enemy caught in the arc takes full damage. The quicker secondary deals half damage but four times the stagger.

It blocks with 76 armour and parries at 2x.

Holding it lowers your movement speed by 20%.

At quality 1 it deals 198 slash and 45 lightning, 243 damage in all. That is 62% more than Primal Berserkir Axes and Thundering Berserkir Axes at quality 1, which deal 150 and are the joint hardest-hitting weapons of their kind before the Deep North. Each upgrade adds 10 slash and 5 lightning, so by quality 3 it reaches 218 slash and 55 lightning, 273 in all.

A primary attack costs 22 stamina and the secondary costs 11. Its hits have a knockback force of 70.

It weighs 2.5 and has 400 durability, rising to 500 at quality 3.

It blocks with 76 armour, or 152 on a well-timed parry at 2x. Blocking a melee attack knocks the attacker back with a block force of up to 70.

Against Deep North creatures, slash deals full damage to Elakings, the Eyeless One, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Kall Fimbulbringer. It deals reduced damage to Barka, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps, and Moose. Lightning deals extra damage to the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps and reduced damage to Barka and Kall Fimbulbringer. It deals full damage to the rest: Elakings, the Eyeless One, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Moose.

Quality 4 needs a level 7 Black Forge, one level above the current maximum of 6, so in practice it stops at quality 3.

Crafting it from scratch and taking it to quality 3 costs 70 Bloodgold, 10 Timberwood and 4 Thunderblood Essence, plus a mould and 5 Liquid Frost.
