Black Pyrefly is a crafting material in Elden Ring. It comes from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
The Black Pyrefly is a fiery butterfly with black cinder wings. It flies in the war-torn lands scoured by Messmer's flame, and it burns in thin dark ribbons. It goes into Messmerfire Grease, the Hefty Fire Pot, the Fireproof Pickled Liver and the Sunwarmth Stone.
Gathering
The pyreflies fly over burnt land in the Gravesite Plain, and many more sit on corpses in forts and towns. A group of them respawns beside the first Site of Grace outside Belurat. Moore also sells a small stock.

A group of pyreflies respawns up the stairs beside the gate to Belurat, right next to the Main Gate Cross Site of Grace.
