The Onyx Lord's Greatsword is a Curved Greatsword in Elden Ring.
When to Use It
Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.
Why Players Pick It
The only Intelligence option in the class: 76 magic at +0, 289 physical plus 186 magic at max standard with B Str / B Int, and its skill creates a gravity well that damages and flings enemies away, the class's only crowd-control tool.
Upgrades
It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.
Skill
Onyx Lord's Repulsion costs 27 FP. Thrust the armament into the ground to create a gravity well. In addition to dealing damage, this attack sends enemies flying away. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.
Build
Its scaling runs Str at D, Dex at E and Int at D, so Str and Int are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 20, Dex 16 and Int 16 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.
Notes
Greatsword forged from golden-hued meteoric ore. The blade conceals gravity-manipulating magic. A weapon unique to the Onyx Lords, a race of ancients with skin of stone who were said to have risen to life when a meteor struck long ago.
