The Rotten Greataxe is a Colossal Weapon in Elden Ring. It only becomes available late in a run.

The Rotten Greataxe is a greataxe built for gladiatorial combat, now festering with scarlet rot and carried by duelists exiled from the colosseum. It drops from the Rotten Duelist behind Ordina, Liturgical Town in the Mountaintops of the Giants. Unlike most colossal weapons it favors Dexterity, and every hit builds scarlet rot. It accepts Ashes of War and keeps its rot buildup through infusions, so a Poison version builds both rot and poison at once. It suits a Strength and Dexterity build that wants to wear down large enemies with status.

Stats

The Rotten Greataxe is the one colossal weapon with genuinely good Dexterity scaling, C at base on 162 physical, and it carries 65 scarlet rot buildup. With a Poison affinity it inflicts scarlet rot and poison together, and at 20.0 weight it stays infusable, so a quality build can stack two statuses on a colossal frame.

Skill

Endure costs 9 FP. The wielder braces in an anchored stance that for three seconds raises damage negation by 45 percent and greatly boosts poise, so most attacks fail to stagger. Some light one-handed attacks even bounce off, though headshots and launching attacks can still interrupt the wielder. Heavy weapons take noticeably longer to enter the stance. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

Suggested Build

Use its heavy swings to stack scarlet rot on large enemies and bosses, then keep pressure while the rot ticks.
