Smoldering Butterfly is a crafting material in Elden Ring.
Smoldering Butterfly is a small butterfly that burns without ever going out. It is common across the Lands Between, most of all around wildfires and burning slugs. Soldiers who carry torches or throw fire pots also drop it. It is the fire ingredient in Fire Pots, Fire Grease, Firebone Arrows and Fireproof Dried Liver.
Gathering
It hovers close to open flame and glows like a drifting ember. Swarms gather around fire patches and the slugs that leave them. It returns after a rest at a Site of Grace, so one swarm can be picked again and again.
How to Get Smoldering Butterfly Guide
It is commonly found in Limgrave, Liurnia of the Lakes and Mt. Gelmir.
- A swarm circles two Fire Slugs on a fire patch just north of Warmaster's Shack.
- Three swarms surround the Fire Monk camp southwest of the Eastern Tableland Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes.
- A corpse in Gelmir Hero's Grave carries several.
- Several lie as loot around Stormveil Castle.
- It drops from Thorn Sorcerer, Fire Monk, Blackflame Monk, Flame Chariot, Fire Slug, Fanged Imp and Highwayman.
- Radahn Soldier drops it when carrying a torch or Fire Pots.
- Skeletal Militiaman drops it when throwing Fire Pots.
