Thunderblood Greatsword is a Nord Greatsword reforged with a Thunderblood Essence. It deals 220 slash and 45 lightning, 265 damage in all, against the Nord Greatsword's 210. Every hit has a 25% chance to set off chain lightning, and it hits 0.2% harder for every point of health you are missing.
How to Craft
You craft it at a level 4 Black Forge from:
- 1x Nord Greatsword: made by hardening a Cast: Nord Greatsword with Liquid Frost in a Frost Foundry.
- 20x Bloodgold: smelted from Petrified Tissue in a Blast Furnace.
- 1x Thunderblood Essence: drops from Fallen Warriors, which you call up with three Memorial Coal at a Memorial Site.
| Name | Image | Biome | Crafting Station | Spawn ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nord Greatsword | Deep North | Frost Foundry | spawn THSwordGold
| |
| Bloodgold | Deep North | Blast Furnace | spawn Gold
| |
| Thunderblood Essence | Deep North | - | spawn OrbThunderBlood

When to Use It
This is an end game weapon. You can only progress through the Deep North once Fader is dead.
Upgrades
You can upgrade it twice at the Black Forge, and each step needs the station one level higher than the last. The first upgrade costs the per-level amount and the second costs twice that. Quality 4 would cost four times the per-level amount, but it needs a level 7 Black Forge and the forge currently tops out at level 6, so that row is not yet available.
| Quality | Crafting Station | Slash | Lightning | Durability | Resources |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Black Forge (Level 4) | 220 | 45 | 400 |

| 2 | Black Forge (Level 5) | 230 | 50 | 450 |

| 3 | Black Forge (Level 6) | 240 | 55 | 500 |

Properties
The primary attack is a wide three-hit combo, and the last hit deals double damage. The slower secondary is a thrust that deals three times the damage.
It blocks with 76 armour and parries at 2x.
Holding it lowers your movement speed by 5%.
At quality 1 it deals 220 slash and 45 lightning, 265 damage in all. That is 47% more than Primal Slayer and Scourging Slayer at quality 1, which deal 180 and are the joint hardest-hitting weapons of their kind before the Deep North. Each upgrade adds 10 slash and 5 lightning, so by quality 3 it reaches 240 slash and 55 lightning, 295 in all.
A primary attack costs 20 stamina and the secondary costs 40. Its hits have a knockback force of 55.
It weighs 4 and has 400 durability, rising to 500 at quality 3.
It blocks with 76 armour, or 152 on a well-timed parry at 2x. Blocking a melee attack knocks the attacker back with a block force of up to 50.
Against Deep North creatures, slash deals full damage to Elakings, the Eyeless One, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Kall Fimbulbringer. It deals reduced damage to Barka, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps, and Moose. Lightning deals extra damage to the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps and reduced damage to Barka and Kall Fimbulbringer. It deals full damage to the rest: Elakings, the Eyeless One, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Moose.
Quality 4 needs a level 7 Black Forge, one level above the current maximum of 6, so in practice it stops at quality 3.
Crafting it from scratch and taking it to quality 3 costs 70 Bloodgold, 4 Thunderblood Essence and 2 Frozen Branch, plus a mould and 5 Liquid Frost.
Notes
- The essence drops from Fallen Warriors, which three Memorial Coal call up at a Memorial Site.
- Once it reaches its last quality level, the Forge of Potential can push it further with a Bloodgold Battle Idol.
