Thunderblood Mace is a Nord Mace reforged with a Thunderblood Essence. It deals 180 blunt and 45 lightning, 225 damage in all, against the Nord Mace's 170. Every hit has a 25% chance to set off chain lightning, and it hits 0.2% harder for every point of health you are missing.

How to Craft

You craft it at a level 4 Black Forge from:

Name Image Biome Crafting Station Spawn ID
Nord Mace Nord Mace Deep North Frost Foundry spawn MaceGold
Bloodgold Bloodgold Deep North Blast Furnace spawn Gold
Thunderblood Essence Thunderblood Essence Deep North - spawn OrbThunderBlood

When to Use It

This is an end game weapon. You can only progress through the Deep North once Fader is dead.

Upgrades

You can upgrade it twice at the Black Forge, and each step needs the station one level higher than the last. The first upgrade costs the per-level amount and the second costs twice that. Quality 4 would cost four times the per-level amount, but it needs a level 7 Black Forge and the forge currently tops out at level 6, so that row is not yet available.

Quality Crafting Station Blunt Lightning Durability Resources

3 Black Forge (Level 6) 200 55 500

Properties

The primary attack is a three-hit combo, and the last hit deals double damage. The slower secondary deals two and a half times the damage and twice the stagger.

It blocks with 66 armour and parries at 2x.

Holding it lowers your movement speed by 5%.

At quality 1 it deals 180 blunt and 45 lightning, 225 damage in all. That is 55% more than Klossen and Storm Star at quality 1, which deal 145 and are the joint hardest-hitting weapons of their kind before the Deep North. Each upgrade adds 10 blunt and 5 lightning, so by quality 3 it reaches 200 blunt and 55 lightning, 255 in all.

A primary attack costs 16 stamina and the secondary costs 28. Its hits have a knockback force of 90.

It weighs 2 and has 400 durability, rising to 500 at quality 3.

It blocks with 66 armour, or 132 on a well-timed parry at 2x. Blocking a melee attack knocks the attacker back with a block force of up to 30.

Against Deep North creatures, blunt deals extra damage to Skeletons and to the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps. It deals full damage to Elakings, the Eyeless One, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Kall Fimbulbringer, and reduced damage to Barka, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls and Moose. Lightning deals extra damage to the Shapeless and Tiny Pulps and reduced damage to Barka and Kall Fimbulbringer. It deals full damage to the rest: Elakings, the Eyeless One, Fallen Warriors, Gammeltrolls, Deep North Greydwarves and their Shamans, Skeletons, Hexen, Krigen, Captive Fulings, Imprisoned Dvergr and Moose.

Quality 4 needs a level 7 Black Forge, one level above the current maximum of 6, so in practice it stops at quality 3.

Crafting it from scratch and taking it to quality 3 costs 70 Bloodgold, 10 Timberwood and 4 Thunderblood Essence, plus a mould and 5 Liquid Frost.
