The Helphen's Steeple is a Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Late game. It is found around Mountaintops of the Giants, far enough in that it is an end-of-run weapon rather than something to build towards.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Ruinous Ghostflame costs 20 FP. Swing the sword to bathe its blade in ghostflame. The ghostflame adds magic damage to attacks, and also has a bitterly cold bite. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D, Dex at E and Int at D, so Str and Int are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 19, Dex 10 and Int 22 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

Greatsword patterned after the black steeple of the Helphen, the lampwood which guides the dead of the spirit world. The lamplight is similar to grace in appearance, only it is said that it can only be seen by those who met their death in battle.

How to Get Helphen's Steeple Guide

  • Dropped by a Tibia Mariner on the Mountaintops of the Giants, near Castle Sol, not far from the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace and where you fight the Death Rite Bird.
