The Dragonscale Blade is a Katana in Elden Ring.
When to Use It
Mid game. It is found around Ainsel River, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.
Upgrades
- Upgrades with Somber Smithing Stones to +10, one stone per level.
- Keeps its own skill permanently.
Skill
Ice Lightning Sword costs 25 FP.
- Call down a bolt of ice lightning into the blade and bring it down upon a foe. The ice lightning effect will persist for a while.
- Unique to this weapon. It cannot be moved onto another weapon, and no Ash of War can replace it.
Build
It scales Str D, Dex C, so Dex is where the levels go.
- Requires Str 12, Dex 20.
- Takes no Ash of War and no affinity, so the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.
Notes
- A weapon made by sharpening a Gravel Stone scale, thought to be the source of ancient dragon immortality, into an unclouded blade.
- Alas, the Dragonkin Soldiers never attained immortality, and perished as decrepit, pale imitations of their skyborn kin.

- Dropped by the Dragonkin Soldier boss in the Lake of Rot.
