The Dragonscale Blade is a Katana in Elden Ring. It becomes available in the middle of a run.

The Dragonscale Blade was made by sharpening a Gravel Stone scale, thought to be the source of ancient dragon immortality, into an unclouded blade, yet the Dragonkin Soldiers never gained that immortality. It drops from the Dragonkin Soldier boss in the Lake of Rot. It handles like a katana, with fast slash and pierce attacks, and deals 20 percent more damage to dragons and 10 percent more to ancient dragons, though dragons resist the slash damage it mostly deals. Its skill, Ice Lightning Sword, calls down ice lightning that adds 160 lightning damage and 80 frostbite buildup to the blade for 45 seconds. With C Dexterity and D Strength scaling at 5.5 weight, it suits a Strength and Dexterity character who likes power stance combos.

Skill

Ice Lightning Sword costs 25 FP. The wielder stomps, raises the blade to call down a bolt of ice lightning into it, then slashes downward as another bolt strikes the target. The blade keeps the ice lightning for 45 seconds, adding lightning damage and frostbite buildup to every hit. The skill can be parried. The skill is unique to this weapon and cannot be swapped out.

"Call down a bolt of ice lightning into the blade and bring it down upon a foe. The ice lightning effect will persist for a while."

Build

Dual wielded with a Fire Uchigatana: Flaming Strike coats the Uchigatana, then Ice Lightning Sword adds lightning and frostbite to the Dragonscale Blade for long power stance strings.

Notes

"A weapon made by sharpening a Gravel Stone scale, thought to be the source of ancient dragon immortality, into an unclouded blade. Alas, the Dragonkin Soldiers never attained immortality, and perished as decrepit, pale imitations of their skyborn kin."
