The Gilded Greatshield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. It can be picked up early in a run.

The Gilded Greatshield is a metal greatshield coated with gold and carried by knights loyal to Godrick, its red tinge mirroring the primordial matter that became the Erdtree, the color of homeward yearning. It is a rare drop from the shield-wielding Godrick Knights, including one at the Gatefront Ruins in Limgrave and the Bloodcrazed Knight at Fort Haight. It weighs 17.5, needs 36 Strength, has a high guard boost and scales with Strength at D. It accepts Ashes of War, and its default is No Skill, which leaves the main-hand weapon's skill free. It suits a Strength and Faith block-counter build.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 69, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 31. It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to fire, at 66%, and worst to lightning, at 54%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

A Strength and Faith block-counter setup: buff with Golden Vow, block enemy attacks and follow with a block counter that staggers and often grants a free hit.

Stats	Strength 60, Faith 40, Vigor 50, Mind 20, Endurance 28 or more for its weight
Affinity	Standard keeps its full guarding values; a Sacred infusion adds holy negation.
Ash of War	No Skill, so the main-hand weapon's skill stays usable.
Talismans	Bull-Goat's Talisman, Shard of Alexander, Curved Sword Talisman, Sacred Scorpion Charm
Pairs With	Miquellan Knight's Sword, Golden Vow
