The Fingerprint Stone Shield is a great stone shield carved with an intricate fingerprint design and one of the heaviest of all greatshields; part of the tomb of an ancient god, its imprints carried the message of the Readerless Fingers and are said to be the seeds from which frenzy first sprouted. It lies at the bottom of a platforming shaft past the Cathedral of the Forsaken in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds, guarded by a Nomad. It has one of the highest guard boosts of any greatshield, weighs 29, needs 48 Strength, and its attacks build madness at 70. A Fire infusion gives it full fire damage negation and a Magic infusion nearly full magic negation, at a small cost to guard boost and physical negation. It suits a shield poke or heavy Strength build with the Endurance to carry it.

Skill

Shield Bash costs no FP. The wielder braces behind the shield and rams forward with full body weight while keeping guard up. Weaker enemies are shoved back and can be staggered, and because the guard holds through the motion, the bash can be thrown out against incoming attacks. It is the weapon's default Ash of War, so another can take its place.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 77, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 23. Only one other greatshield guards better, at 82. It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to fire, at 81%, and worst to holy, at 75%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

The core of the shield poke playstyle: block everything behind it and poke over it with a thrusting weapon, or bash with Shield Crash to use its madness buildup.
