The Visage Shield is a tricksome bronze greatshield depicting the face of a Fire Giant, with several tongues leaping from its open mouth to remind the viewer of the horror of facing one. It lies in a chest in the underground room of Caelem Ruins in Caelid, guarded by a pair of Mad Pumpkin Heads. It is one of the heaviest shields at 24 weight, with a guard boost of 75 and high fire negation. Its unique skill, Tongues of Fire, readies the shield and sprays jets of fire from its maw, can be held to keep spraying and can be used while walking, though the shield is easily guard broken while the skill is active. It suits a Strength character with the Endurance to carry a very heavy shield.

How to Get Visage Shield Guide

It lies in a chest beneath the Caelem Ruins in northeastern Caelid, guarded by the Mad Pumpkin Head duo.

Travel to the Caelem Ruins in northeastern Caelid.
Go down into the underground room east of the ruins.
Defeat the two Mad Pumpkin Heads guarding it.
Open the chest in the treasure room.

Skill

Tongues of Fire costs 5 FP. The wielder raises the shield into a guard and sprays violent jets of fire from the tongues in its maw. Holding the button keeps the flames going while walking. The shield still blocks frontal attacks during the spray, but blocking costs far more stamina than usual. The skill is unique to this weapon and cannot be swapped out.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 75, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 25. Only two greatshields guard better, topping out at 82. It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to fire, at 81%, and worst to holy, at 62%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

Played as a heavy off-hand that turns into a walking flamethrower: advance behind it with Tongues of Fire against groups, then block and counter with the main weapon.
