The Wooden Greatshield is a Greatshield in Elden Ring. Players can grab it early, in Stormveil Castle.

The Wooden Greatshield is a wooden greatshield reinforced with metal ornamentation. It lies in the guardhouse of the heavily guarded courtyard in Stormveil Castle, near the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. At 8 weight it is the lightest greatshield, tied with the Jellyfish Shield, and needs only 14 Strength, though its physical negation is below the usual full block of its class. Like other greatshields it makes strong enemies recoil when their attacks hit it, which opens them up for punishment. It accepts Ashes of War and suits low-Strength characters who want greatshield guarding without the weight.

How to Get Wooden Greatshield Guide

In the guarded courtyard in Stormveil Castle, it's located in the guardhouse to the right if entering the area from the main gates, opposite side from the room with the "Prophecy" Painting.

With a guard boost of 56, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 44. It lets 9% of physical damage through, and against the elements it holds up best to lightning, at 51%, and worst to fire, at 41%. If a block empties the stamina bar, the guard breaks and a critical hit can follow.

Build

Carried as a light shield by builds that barely invest in Strength, such as a low-level Dexterity and Faith assassin that guards with it and kills with critical hits.

Stats	Strength 14 to wield it, Dexterity 16 and Faith 20 for the early Dexterity and Faith setup that carries it, Endurance about 18 for a medium load, then Vigor and Mind
Affinity	Standard keeps its guard values; Heavy suits a Strength character.
