The Icerind Hatchet is an Axe in Elden Ring. It is a mid-game find in the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

The Icerind Hatchet is one of several gifts given by Castle Sol in the distant north, with a frost-coated blade known as freezing fog and thought to be a dragon's scale. It lies in a chest in the ruined bell tower of the Temple Quarter. It shares the Hand Axe moveset, which is considerably faster than the normal axe moveset, and its hits build frost while dealing 20 percent more damage to dragons and 10 percent more to ancient dragons. It cannot take Ashes of War, and its Dexterity scaling grows to B with upgrades, so it fits a Dexterity frost build.

The Icerind Hatchet is a frost axe with 65 frost buildup and Hoarfrost Stomp as its native skill, at only 3.0 weight. With 115 base physical it is a status and skill delivery tool rather than a damage weapon, giving a Dexterity build a fast frost option that barely touches equip load.

Skill

Hoarfrost Stomp costs 10 FP. The wielder stomps hard to send a trail of freezing ice spreading across the ground, and a moment later the ice bursts again. Both the trail and the bursts deal magic damage and build up frostbite. The skill comes out quickly and covers a large area, and the Shattered Stone Talisman boosts its damage.

Suggested Build

A fast frost axe that applies frostbite with quick strings and with Hoarfrost Stomp, which spreads freezing mist across a wide area in front. It is often powerstanced with a weapon carrying a different status effect.
