The Highland Axe is a Axe in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Stormveil Castle, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Why Players Pick It

The only Axe above 100 critical, at 110. If you are running a parry setup or backstab-heavy play this is the class's only weapon that pays you for it. 123 base physical at 12 Str / 9 Dex, found in Stormveil under the Godfrey painting.

Upgrades

Ordinary Smithing Stones carry it all the way to +25, and because it is not a Somber weapon it will also hold a grease or a weapon buff, which is a damage source the unique blades simply do not have.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D and Dex at D, so Str and Dex are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 12 and Dex 9 before you can lift it. Any Ash of War and any affinity will sit on it, so its scaling can be re-cut towards whichever stat you are already levelling.

Critical Damage

Critical 110. A backstab, or a riposte after a guard break, is multiplied by this, where 100 is the baseline most weapons carry.

The highest critical of its class.
It pays for getting behind an enemy or breaking their stance rather than trading hits in the open.

Notes

Single-sided axe used by the warriors of the highlands. Brave combatants begin battle by crying out their names. Roars are enhanced by this weapon.

Location: Stormveil Castle.
The Highland Axe is found directly beneath a large painting of Elden Lord Godfrey and Serosh at Stormveil Castle.
This area contains a Grafted Scion and may be reached by from the Rampart Tower Site of Grace by descending the nearby elevator.
