Crucible Knight is an evergaol boss in Elden Ring.
The Crucible Knight is a heavily armored warrior of the old guard who fights with a sword and a horned shield. The first is sealed inside Stormhill Evergaol in Limgrave and is a hard test for a new character. Another fights beside a Misbegotten Warrior in the plaza of Redmane Castle. A third stands with Crucible Knight Ordovis in Auriza Hero's Grave.
Lore
The knight wears bulky golden-brown armor and carries a greatshield crowned with a horn. In battle the power of the Crucible bursts from the body as golden wings, a tail or a fiery throat sac.
The Crucible Knights served Godfrey, the first Elden Lord. Their armor holds the power of the crucible of life, the primordial form of the Erdtree.
Ordovis and Siluria were honored as the foremost of the order. Ordovis marked his men with the axe, and his greatsword was forged with primordial gold.
As the Erdtree flourished and its origins faded from memory, the Crucible Knights and their strange gifts came to be scorned as chaotic.

Phases
- Phase 1: The knight fights with sword cuts, thrusts, shield bashes and ground stomps.
- Phase 2: It stamps out a burst of holy energy, sprouts golden wings and opens with a flying dive, then adds golden tail sweeps to its combos.
Attacks
- Diagonal Slam: the sword rises high and comes down at an angle; wait for the blade to stand upright, then roll.
- Lunging Stab: it draws the sword back and stabs with long reach, often to punish healing; roll sideways at full draw.
- Shield Bash: it hunches behind the shield, steps in and heaves it up; roll around the shield and punish the recovery.
- Grinding Swing: it drags the sword along the ground in sparks, then cuts upward; wait for the end of the drag before rolling.
- Seismic Wave: it lifts a knee and stomps, sending a shockwave along the ground; jump over it or roll to the side.
- Flying Dive: golden wings lift it into the air before a long dive; roll toward it as the sword levels.
- Tail Sweep: a golden tail whips around it, and a larger double sweep can follow a dive; roll against the direction of the sweep.
- Fire Breath: some knights grow a throat sac and breathe fire while walking forward; run away as the sac swells.
Tactics
- Let each combo finish, then counter once and step back; trading hits loses this fight.
- Parry its sword cuts in the first phase, since they are slow and easy to read.
- Jump over the Seismic Wave instead of rolling backward.
- Heal only during long recoveries, such as after the Flying Dive or the Seismic Combo, since it punishes healing at range.
- Use raw damage instead of status effects, which barely build up on it.
- At Redmane Castle, lure the faster Misbegotten Warrior away and kill it first.
- At Auriza Hero's Grave, separate the two knights with the pillars and kill the spear knight first.

Parry build
Its sword attacks are slow and readable, so parries and critical hits give steady damage.
Fire or lightning damage
Fire and lightning get through its armor better than physical, magic or holy damage.
Stagger skills
Giant Hunt, Stamp (Upward Cut) and Lion's Claw interrupt many of its attacks.
