Runebear is a dungeon boss in Elden Ring.
The Runebear is a massive bear with strange rune markings on its chest that sleeps at the end of Earthbore Cave. The cave lies down a cliffside north of the forest on the Weeping Peninsula. Once awake, it mauls, charges and crushes with savage strength. The safest spot in the fight is right under its belly.
Lore
The Runebear is a giant bear, far larger than any common bear, with strange glowing markings across its chest. It fights with claws, teeth and its whole weight.
Highland warriors were known as hunters of bears. To them, no act was more glorious than the subjugation of such a savage beast.

Weaknesses
| Weak To | Fire, Slash |
|---|
Attacks
- Claw Maul: it raises a claw and slashes forward with strong tracking; stay under it or dodge in at the top of the swing.
- Smash: it rises briefly and slams one paw down; back away or move behind it.
- Bite and Lunge: it snaps forward or leaps a long way; roll into the bear to end up beneath it.
- Charge: it ducks and charges with almost no warning; dodge to the side as it turns.
- Double Paw Smash: it rears up and slams both paws down with a shockwave; jump the wave or roll in.
- Bear Hug: it rears with arms spread, walks forward and grabs; roll after a few steps or run away.
- Beast Roar: a roar that flies as a projectile from range; dodge or block it.
Tactics
- Open with a sneak attack while it sleeps on the first visit.
- Stay underneath its belly, where most swings pass overhead.
- Roll forward into its attacks instead of away from them.
- Avoid blocking, since its blows drain huge amounts of stamina.
- Two-hand the weapon and use charged or jump attacks to break its stance, then strike its head.
- Summon Lone Wolf Ashes to keep it distracted.
