Hackatomy is an Iconic weapon mod that lets a Smart weapon apply quickhack effects with its bullets. Each hit has a small chance to trigger a quickhack effect on the target. The body part that the bullet strikes decides which effect it is. It is one of the Iconic mods that V can craft from the Active Chimera Core in Phantom Liberty. It suits an Intelligence build that mixes Smart guns with netrunning. Hackatomy is a Phantom Liberty mod, crafted after the main job Spider and the Fly from the core of the Militech Chimera.
Effect
Hackatomy gives every hit from the Smart weapon a 5% chance to apply a quickhack effect. The effect type depends on where the bullet lands. Shots to different body parts trigger different quickhack effects.
The mod is a Tier 5 Iconic item. Ordinary mods stay in a weapon once installed. Hackatomy is different, and V can unequip it and move it to another Smart weapon later.

Upgrades
Hackatomy comes only at Tier 5, the tier at which V crafts it from the Active Chimera Core.
Character Builds
Hackatomy belongs on a Smart weapon in an Intelligence build. Targeting Prism enables multiple target locks when aiming. Target Lock Transfer widens the Smart reticle and keeps locks when V switches weapons or moves from aiming to hip fire. Smart Synergy gives Smart weapons instant target lock during Overclock. It also adds +25% damage against enemies affected by a quickhack.
The Smart Link is Hands cyberware that enables smart targeting for Smart weapons. The Tattoo: Tyger Claws Dermal Imprint also enables smart targeting.
The other Chimera Core mods each serve a different weapon type. Firecracker is the choice for Power weapons. Wallpuncher is the choice for Tech weapons. Severance is the choice for blades.
Lore
Hackatomy comes from the Chimera, a combat tank that Militech built as a prototype. The tank never entered mass production. During Spider and the Fly, V and President Rosalind Myers find a Chimera in a Barghest storage area under Dogtown.
Barghest forces attack, and Songbird takes control of the Chimera to fight them off. She then loses control, and the machine turns on V and Myers. After the fight, its still active power core can be taken from the wreck. The core is the only crafting material that Hackatomy needs.
Notes
- The Active Chimera Core can be used once. Crafting Hackatomy rules out Firecracker, Wallpuncher and Severance on the same playthrough.
- Hackatomy can be unequipped and moved to another Smart weapon.
