The G-58 Dian is Kang Tao's smart submachine gun, a compact gun that fires homing rounds at any target V has locked. It fires fast and aims for itself. V can keep moving, duck behind cover and still land hits. It is an easy gun to use in a messy close-range fight. It works well for a netrunner or any Intelligence build that wants a sidearm that needs little aiming. Its Iconic variant, Yinglong, adds Electrical damage to every round. The G-58 Dian is sold in shops from the early game onward. Its crafting spec drops from a Valentinos leader in Vista del Rey, Heywood.
Combat
The Dian fires in full auto. With a Smart Link installed, it locks onto enemies inside its tracking box, and its rounds bend toward them. Smart bullets can curve around low walls and crates, but they fly slower than normal rounds.
The homing fire changes how a fight works. V can strafe, slide and fire from the hip while the bullets do the aiming. Enemies hiding behind light cover keep taking hits. Smart weapons deal less raw damage in return for being easy to use. The Dian wins by firing many bullets, not by single big hits.
Submachine guns work best at close range. The Dian is at home in clubs, corridors and apartment blocks. At long range, the slow smart rounds take a while to arrive, and fast targets may break the lock.

Character Builds
The Dian uses perks from two attribute trees, Intelligence and Reflexes. In Intelligence, No Escape refreshes a lock that is about to run out when V shoots the target. Targeting Prism allows several locks while aiming and raises the number of targets for every smart weapon. Precision Subroutines adds accuracy for each unit of the cyberdeck's Max RAM. Terminal Velocity speeds up the rounds and extends lock-on range after each smart kill. Recirculation gives RAM back after a smart kill.
In Reflexes, Spray And Pray lowers the Stamina cost of hip-fire. Gundancer removes the slowdown while aiming. Submachine Fun speeds up the swap to an SMG and reloads it on the swap. It also adds fire rate for a while.
Smart Link is the essential cyberware, because it turns the smart targeting on. Its mod slots take smart and SMG mods. Panorama widens the smart targeting circle. It also holds a lock briefly after a target leaves the circle. Hackatomy, an Iconic mod, gives each hit a chance to apply a quickhack effect based on the body part hit. Better Half adds crit chance to the second half of the magazine. Ready Steady cuts recoil, and Equalizer adds damage against Elite enemies.
Select a Build
Each fight starts with Overclock, then a control quickhack, then a combat quickhack. Smart guns lock on and finish the hacked enemies while Dashes and air Dashes keep the character moving. Silenced Smart guns and stealthy quickhacks also handle quiet gigs.

Lore
The Dian's in-game line brags like a gun-shop poster: it holds the most all-time appearances at the top of the "Guns and Horses" rankings. Kang Tao, a Chinese arms maker whose guns are built around smart targeting, makes it.
Its crafting spec sits with Miguel Rodriguez, a Valentinos leader also known as Gizmo. He runs a Suspected Organized Crime Activity at the Mercado Sonora in Vista del Rey. The Iconic Yinglong goes further than the Dian. Its rounds deal Electrical damage, and each hit has a small chance to set off an EMP.
Notes
- Yinglong is the Iconic variant of the G-58 Dian.
