The Magma Blade is a Curved Sword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Mid game. It is found around Altus Plateau, which opens up past Stormveil Castle, so it arrives once a build has taken shape.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Magma Shower costs 12 FP. Slash at foes in a twirling motion while scattering magma all around. Additional input allows for a follow-up attack. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at D, Dex at D and Fai at D, so Str, Dex and Fai are the stats worth levelling, and you need Str 9, Dex 15 and Fai 16 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

Curved sword with a blade fashioned from the lava of Mt. Gelmir. An armament of the man-serpents, impossible for a human to have made. Deals fire damage.
