Valiant Gargoyles is a great boss in Elden Ring.
The Valiant Gargoyles are winged stone guardians who fight as a pair at the Siofra Aqueduct in Nokron, Eternal City. The fight opens against one gargoyle, and a second joins once the first drops to half health. Defeating them is one of two ways to reach the Deeproot Depths. Single Valiant Gargoyles also guard the Capital Outskirts and both versions of Leyndell.
Lore
The Valiant Gargoyles are colossal winged stone guardians. Missing pieces of their bodies have been patched with corpse wax. Each fights with two bronze weapons, one for quick close combat and one for slow, far-reaching blows.
The gargoyles are a patchwork of champions, mended with corpse wax like the weapons they carry. They fight with great discipline. Some of their techniques resemble the storm arts of Stormveil. They roar to blast away any foe who tries to flee.

Phases
- Phase 1: a single gargoyle fights with its greatsword and halberd.
- Phase 2: at half health a second gargoyle with a twinblade and axe joins the fight.
- Phase 3: once one gargoyle falls, the survivor fights alone.
Attacks
- Poison breath: at close range the gargoyle exhales a cloud of poison. Sprinting away as soon as the mist appears avoids it.
- Vacuum Slice: the greatsword gargoyle fires a cutting wave from far away. A sideways roll avoids it.
- Storm Assault: the halberd gargoyle leaps and slams down with a gust of wind. A roll forward under the jump avoids it.
- Twinblade spins: the second gargoyle chains fast spinning swings. Backing away until the spin ends is safest.
- Beast's Roar: the gargoyle roars a shockwave at a fleeing target. Staying in mid range or rolling through it avoids it.
Tactics
- Upgrade the flask and bring a poison cure such as Flame, Cleanse Me.
- Summon a ranged spirit ash such as the Spirit Jellyfish, because the gargoyles move a lot and hit wide areas.
- In phase one, learn the first gargoyle's patterns and take as little damage as possible.
- Stay underneath or behind a gargoyle, where its attacks rarely connect.
- When the second gargoyle arrives, burn down the weaker one quickly.
- Use the cliff on the right of the arena to make the first gargoyle fall during its backward jump.
- Save flask charges for the last gargoyle.
