The Ordovis's Greatsword is a Greatsword in Elden Ring.

When to Use It

Early game. It is found around Limgrave, in the opening stretch of a run, so it is one of the first real upgrades you can carry.

Upgrades

It takes Somber Smithing Stones rather than the common kind, one per level up to +10, and it keeps its own skill for good: no Ash of War will replace it and no affinity will re-cut its scaling.

Skill

Ordovis's Vortex costs 15 FP. Channel the power of the crucible to spin the sword in midair, building momentum before slamming the blade down onto the ground. This skill can be charged to increase its power. It belongs to this weapon alone: no Ash of War will move it onto anything else, and nothing will replace it here.

Build

Its scaling runs Str at C, Dex at E and Fai at D, so Str is the stat worth levelling, and you need Str 25, Dex 13 and Fai 15 before you can lift it. Because the skill is its own, the build has to come to the weapon rather than the other way round.

Notes

Greatsword of Ordovis, one of the two honored as foremost among the Crucible Knights. This sword is imbued with an ancient holy essence. Its red tint exemplifies the nature of primordial gold, said to be closer in nature to life itself.

  • Ordovis's Greatsword is received upon defeating the Crucible Knight Ordovis and Crucible Knight duo boss in the Auriza Hero's Grave, located in the Capital Outskirts.
