The Golden Lion Shield is a Medium Shield in Elden Ring. It has the highest guard boost of any medium shield in the game. It is part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

The Golden Lion Shield is made to resemble a fierce golden lion with a luxuriant mane, awarded to especially valorous members of Radahn's personal guard when it was formed. Redmane Freyja gives it in the Specimen Storehouse of the Shadow Keep after receiving the letter Sir Ansbach writes for her, which requires telling Ansbach about Freyja before handing him the Secret Rite Scroll. Its unique skill, Roaring Bash, is a stronger form of Shield Bash. It scales C in Strength, needs 11 Strength, weighs 5.5 and cannot be infused. It suits a Strength character who wants an offensive shield.

How to Get Golden Lion Shield Guide

Redmane Freyja gives it at the Storehouse, Seventh Floor Site of Grace in the Shadow Keep in exchange for the Letter for Freyja from Sir Ansbach.

Talk to Redmane Freyja at the Storehouse, Seventh Floor Site of Grace in the Specimen Storehouse about her decision.
Tell Sir Ansbach at the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace about it before handing him anything.
Give Ansbach the Secret Rite Scroll, rest at a Site of Grace and talk to him to receive the Letter for Freyja.
Give the letter to Freyja and exhaust her dialogue to receive the shield.

Skill

Roaring Bash costs 12 FP. The wielder roars like a golden lion and delivers a shield bash from a guarding position, knocking back and staggering foes over a wide radius. It works like the Shield Bash Ash of War with extra reach from the roar, and holding Freyja's Greatsword raises its damage by 10 percent. No other weapon carries this skill, and it cannot be replaced.

Guarding

With a guard boost of 64, a blocked hit that would cost 100 stamina only costs 36. No other medium shield guards better. It blocks all physical damage, and against the elements it holds up best to holy, at 49%, and worst to lightning, at 41%. A block that drains the last of the stamina bar breaks the guard, leaving an opening for a critical.

Build

Used as an offensive shield, with Roaring Bash breaking an enemy's stance between blocks.
